Orso and I headed to Sandy’s group conformation class with a plan tonight. The plan was simple. I drive Orso to the class then sit patiently in a chair on the sidelines while Johanna Herzon works with him. Period. End of story. And that’s exactly how it went down. We arrived and Johanna took him from me for 30 minutes of supermodel-quality showmanship!
We are all so proud of Orso, he really has come a long way since the first time he was worked for conformation. He stands so nicely – although hand-stacking is still a challenge, so is judge inspection – and his trot is quite nice. He has a long, bouncy stride that is very pleasant to watch. Johanna works well with him. A few things were decided tonight: 1 – we have his first four dog shows in Lakeland on February 18-21, 2 – Jessie (Sandy & Johanna’s daughter) will be handling him in the ring for all four shows & 3 – I am DEFINITELY not taking him in a conformation ring as his handler! Stay tuned for details about the shows in case anyone want to join us!
