Tonight we had our 2nd group conformation class with the Herzon family. I planned for tonight by calling them early to reserve a handler to work with Orso during class. When we arrived, Johanna Herzon promptly took Orso from us and started to work with him. Johanna is definitely a patient woman. Orso was fairly cooperative and would sometimes hold a nice stand for her, but this little guy just wants to play or sit and beg for treats. At 5 months old, it’s natural so we just laugh it off. He also really doesn’t want to trot; he wants to either drag behind or gallop and play tug with his fancy show lead. Below are 2 short video clips of tonight. With Orso’s first 3 dog shows approaching fast on December 17, 18 and 19 in Orlando, the thought of spending a ton of money traveling to Orlando for 5 days without knowing how he’s going to behave scares us. Part of participating in competitive sports and events is knowing when to say uncle. We think Orso needs a little more time to mature before we throw him in a conformation ring. So we came home, canceled our hotel reservations and have decided to let Orso be a baby for a little longer. He loves rally and agility, so we will be focusing on that for a few months. Stay tuned!
