Tonight was Karma’s 2nd puppy class and it went great! There were a bunch of puppies in today’s class, which made me so happy because what Karma needs the most is to socialize with other puppies! Our adults at home don’t correct her if she bites too hard or plays too rough and I know that these puppies will definitely call her out on her mischief! Tonight there were a total of 6 puppies in class! One of them, a 13-month old Airedale Terrier, was only there for a little while and served as a special guest, invited by Applause Your Paws, to allow the puppies to interact with a large dog that is still a puppy! Orso has been asked to make this same special appearance in the past and will be doing so again in one of Karma’s upcoming classes. The remaining 5 puppies were Karma, Manny the Golden Retriever from last week, Nemo the German Shephard, Lulu (I think this is her name) the French Bulldog and a Jack Russell whose name I cannot remember, sorry! It was an excellent mix of breeds and temperaments. Thanks, Applause Your Paws, for getting together all these pups! On to class… Karma had tons of fun running around and making new friends! It’s so refreshing to sit back and watch her play. Seeing a group of puppies tumbling around can bring a smile to anyone’s face, especially if it’s been a bad day. I guess I owe all the puppies a big thank you for making my day bright! I also learned something new about Karma – she doesn’t like conflict very much. Every time a puppy was getting too rough, she would go over to it and bark at it, almost like scolding it, to get it to stop being too rough! She was trying to keep the peace and referee the interaction! This must be a Corso thing because I remember Orso doing the very same thing when he was taking this puppy class. I thought this was a very interesting character trait of hers. Yay, Karma, make love not war! As far as her obedience goes, last week, Karma learned the commands look, sit and down for the first time. Truthfully, I did not practice them at all before tonight’s class. Despite this, when I asked her to look, sit and down, she did them all like a pro! I figured I would work on some new stuff, so I taught her stand from the sit, stand from the down and down from the stand – all of which she picked up immediately! We also worked a little more on her look and come commands and she was great at them! I am very happy with how she behaved in class tonight! Below are my favorite photos from the class. There are also two short video clips at the end that I shot during class. One is 45 seconds and the other is 2.5 minutes long. Enjoy!

“Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these courageous couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
-Said about 2500 years ago by the Greek historian, Herodotus Summer in Miami brings rain all the time. We get lots of storms and bad weather and nothing is worse than a large dog who is scared of storms. Today was great because we all went outside to play when it was NOT raining. After a little while, it started thundering and we kept playing. Then it was sprinkling and we were still playing. By the time we went back in, it was pouring – and I mean, the sky was falling, type pouring – and everyone seemed to be OK with it, especially Orso who would not get out of the pool. Even Luna, who is terrified of storms, was doing alright. All in all, it was a great way to teach Karma that storms can be fun too! AND, everyone crashed from exhaustion after playtime! Below are a bunch of photos from today, I went crazy with the action shots of Orso jumping into the pool, enjoy!
Cleo, our not-so-little girl who is living in Colorado with her handler, Kathi Wisdom, is growing up quite nicely! Kathi is preparing Cleo to start her AKC show career starting in September, so Cleo is learning lots of new things every day. Recently, Kathi decided to allow Cleo to hang out with the resident adult females since she will be traveling with them to the shows. She was very respectful and they got along pretty well, according to Kathi! She also is being introduced to living inside the house and crate training, which is necessary for her to learn since she will be living indoors with us when she comes home. Thanks, Kathi, for all your hard work, patience and dedication! Below are photos that Kathi took a few days ago of Cleo. She is about five and a half months in these pictures. Enjoy!
