Costa Bel is proud to have been feeding Orijen for almost two years now! This food is outstanding! We go through 3 bags of food every 2 weeks!
Today is a week since Mira came into this world and joined the Costa Bel family. She has been growing up nicely and the 5 adults all respect her and are starting to really love being around her. They follow me around the house all day while I am carrying her. Orso sneaks in a lick across her face every chance he gets, LOL! Below is a picture of all 5 adults standing watch while I nurse Mira. My bottle-feeding skills are questionable, as I have managed to make Mira gassy, thus the pediatric anti-gas meds below. The cupcakes are for the folks at Animal Hospital of Fort Lauderdale for putting up with me. All in all, Mira is gaining weight nicely – she came in at 16.25 ounces today, just over 1 pound! We love you, Mira, and are so blessed to have you! Happy 1-week birthday, baby girl!
Left to right front: Cleo (Momma to Mira), Karma & Luna. In the back, Mouse then Orso way behind everyone else! Today is Day 6 of Mira’s life and I feel like she isn’t gaining weight the way I’d like. She’s been on goat’s milk up until now but I think it’s time for something more calorie-rich. My friends at Alcor Cane Corso & Handling – Derek Matson & Christina Moore – were kind enough to share a great recipe with me, which I promptly purchased all the ingredients and prepared for Mira. And to track her weight on a daily basis, I bought her a fancy-shmancy scale! Below is the recipe for the home-made puppy formula, in case anyone is looking for a good mix. As always, here are some photos too, enjoy!
12oz goat’s milk 1c full fat plain yogurt 1 egg yolk 1tsp vegetable oil 1tsp Karo Syrup (light corn syrup) 1tsp liquid infant vitamins (no iron) Blend it all together, strain into a container, add 1c filtered water and mix well! Mira is a singleton, a single child, a one-puppy powerhouse! She doesn’t seem to mind getting all the attention to herself, but it’s kind of nice to have company sometimes. Mira shares her laundry basket with a few friends and I wanted to introduce them to you, see below! Enjoy!
I love getting show photos out of nowhere, LOL, especially 2 months later!
Here is Karma, on May 20th, 2012, in TN with her handler, Daniel Sanchez, taking BOB for 4 points toward her GCH, under Judge Jean Fournier. Below is a video compilation, set to music, of photos from Mira’s first four days of life. Also, at the end is a video clip of me feeding her. Her expressions are really cute, it’s well worth the watch! Enjoy! Mira had her tail docked and dewclaws removed this morning! I was told she didn’t even flinch during the procedure! I was left to wait in the exam room, which I didn’t mind! Below are some photos from today, enjoy!
Mira was born weighing 10.5 ounces. She is a tiny blessing and is gaining weight steadily. I am bottle feeding her every 2 hours around the clock. She has an awesome appetite. Cleo is allowed to clean her up and spend supervised time with her, but she isn’t allowed to nurse her, so that’s where I come in as Momma Yvonne. Below are a bunch of pictures of Mira at feeding time and then with Cleo, enjoy!
Costa Bel’s awesome handling team and dear friends, Daniel & Vanessa Sanchez, spent a few days at the house while taking a break from their scheduled dog shows. It was awesome to have them stay for a few nights and hang out without it being about work for a change. Lots of great times were had and they were incredibly helpful with Mira’s arrival. All the dogs were thrilled to see them, as you can see below:
I came home from the gym this evening to find a beautiful floral arrangement that Vanessa and Isabella, her daughter, had done for me, see below! It was awesome to have the Sanchez family stay at my home! We never get to hang out calmly since we are always rushing around at the dog shows, so this was a nice change of pace! AND they were here for Mira’s birth, which was a wonderful bonding experience! Danny, Vanessa & Isabella – you all ROCK! We all love you here!
